Client:
A $1 billion+ manufacturer contracted with eMRI consultants to perform a system-wide assessment of product quality covering product development, manufacturing and supply chain functions. As part of the assessment, it was discovered that there were systemic issues with the corporation’s measurement systems and that the measurement systems were not able to reliably tell a good product from bad product.
Goal:
Prioritize measurement systems, target high priority systems for improvement and reduce measurement error.
Results:
The result was new calibration schedules that saved the client over $1 million per year. It is projected that the client will realize significant additional cost savings through improved measurement system performance and improvements in quality.
Savings:
Estimated $1million in customer returns.
